Hello!

My name is Taylor Reid, and I was born and raised in Prosper, Texas. Growing up, I had a deep passion for soccer, which I played with my triplet siblings throughout my childhood. My musical journey began in middle school when I picked up the clarinet and bass clarinet in the school band. I immersed myself in music from sixth to eleventh grade, cherishing every moment.

During high school, I worked part-time at Chili's Grill and Bar while participating in a dual credit program at Collin Community College, earning 27 college credit hours by graduation. After finishing at Rock Hill High School in May 2023, I initially considered a career in nursing and began my college education at Texas Woman's University. However, after discovering my true passion for business and law, I transferred to The University of Texas at Dallas as a sophomore, eager to broaden my opportunities and embrace new challenges. I believe every experience is purposeful, and I’m grateful to have found my right path.

At The University of Texas at Dallas, I am proud to serve as the Layout and Technology Director for The Undergraduate Law Review (UTDULR) and as a member of the Internal Affairs Committee for the John Marshall Pre-Law Society. I have completed a Legal Writing and Research course, and I am working towards getting my own work published through UTDULR.

In my free time, I enjoy attending Dallas Stars hockey games—a passion I developed while cheering for the team with my dad. I also find comfort in painting, reading, and cooking, which allow me to unwind and express my creativity.

The Client Letter-RHET 4320

For my final project in the Legal Research and Writing course (RHET 4320), I was tasked with drafting a legal opinion letter offering advice on a hypothetical student disciplinary case involving accusations of bullying within the Brown Independent School District (BISD). The scenario centered around two incidents between students, Mr. Manning and Mr. Simmons. It raised questions about the applicability of bullying laws under the Texas Education Code and BISD's specific disciplinary policies. In this assignment, I analyzed whether Mr. Manning's actions could be classified as bullying, whether self-defense could be claimed for his actions, and whether mandatory detention counseling should apply in this case. This letter outlines my legal analysis and recommendations based on the facts presented.
